Fall 2016 Ready-to-Wear : Julien MacDonald

"Celebrate your body." Julien MacDonald

That was the message from Julien backstage, and this was also executed through his designs this season. Gigi Hadid recently wore a jumpsuit from his collection at a Sports Illustrated event and Julien's name became a huge talking point in the industry. The reception the designer got for this piece was incredible and it's great to see Julien rising and rising to become one of the most renowned designers in the world.

The setting of the collection was shown at a beautiful former 19th Century Church on North Audley Street and it really did contrast against the sexy, high-shine and slashed dresses which rocked the runway at the show. His signature fish-scaled beaded finish also made an appearance on dresses which were absolutely mesmerising. I have no doubt that these pieces will be making appearances in the near future at glamour A list events - which I for one would be so excited to see. I feel that Julien MacDonald is very similar to Olivier Rousting in terms of what they want a woman to feel and look - bold and beautiful - with that edge of sex appeal too. Julien brings a more daring approach with huge plunging necklines and thigh high slits - but there is something quite classy about these looks which on paper perhaps wouldn't have made sense. The embellishment and craftsmanship of these pieces were undeniably flawless. From the gorgeous rose red beaded design to the black fringed look, donned by Bella Hadid recently at the ELLE Style Awards in London. He ventured into holographic prints which were sure to turn heads on the London Nightlife scene and there is no doubt that the women who are lucky enough to work one of these numbers will feel like a million dollars. A real thumbs up for Julien MacDonald this season, and I cannot wait to see what he brings to the table for summer.
