Spring 2016 Couture : Zuhair Murad

Last season, Zuhair Murad took a more youthful and fun approach towards the collection. He incoporated trousers, leather boots and cocktail dresses. This time, he has regained the typical Zuhair Murad feel - gorgeous gowns and luxurious looks. It was so satisfying and enjoyable to see Murad bring back what we all know and love - that is not to say that I didn't love the Pre-Fall collection though, it always good for a brand known for a certain look to venture out into something different. It seems as though he has stepped back into his roots with the gorgeous gowns and garments for Spring 2016 Couture. Taking a trip back to the Elizabethan era, it was evident that Murad had taken the women's fashion during this time as inspiration for this collection. He incoporated corsets into the collection as well as panier skirts which broadened the hips - giving the models an exaggerated hourglass figure.

"I love the possibilities of corsets. You could say I wanted to put women in a guilded cage."

of course, he said this statement in a good way. He showered some of the gowns with beautiful ivy and floral patterns which conveyed the Spring feel which I always like to see for a fresh collection. The embroidery featured sequins, lace, satin and beads. There was also delicate individual flower designs sewn onto the gowns which would have certainly taken hours and hours of seamstresses' time. The results though, were incredible. Murad stated that he wasn't thinking of the red carpet when designing this collection, but one can not refrain to imagine these captivating designs contributing to the Red Carpet fashion. He used pastel hues in colours pink, grey and a grey green. Contrasting this palette with corals and mauves in other dresses. Again, Murad had taken us on a Elizabethan style fairy tail, and I cannot wait to see the Fall collection this fashion month.
