Fall 2016 Ready-to-Wear : Tomas Maier

Tomas Maier is the underdog of the fashion industry as far as I am concerned. I think it is fair to say that perhaps not many people are aware of the fashion house, but in no way should this be the case. I love every collection that they bring out and this particular Fall collection has to be my favourite. Tomas started his career designing for Bottega Veneta and there were certainly some similarities between the house and his namesake brand - in terms of style and look. I feel that this collection was a combination of what we would expect from Gucci and Miu Miu. It was a healthy balance that perhaps could be deemed more wearable for the modern, everyday woman.

According to Tomas, this season is delving back into the 70s, which is always a reoccurring and popular trend. Oversized, slightly transparent sunglasses are back! Texture is a main point of the collection, with Maier dwelling into metallics and chunky knits - complimented with patent leather boots. The overall feel of the collection was fairly casual with a business edge, giving the modern working woman a great variety of looks to take from day to night. Although fairly simple the garments couldn't be described as boring; anything but actually. From clashing stripes and patterns to checked shift dresses and checked monochrome knits teamed with a metallic skater skirt. It was a very youthful collection - really homing in on today's young fashion, dispersing his brand to the attention of the younger fashion lovers. Tomas has presented his collection early this year, and what a great way to start the Fall 2016 collections!
