Golden Globes 2016 : Looks from the Red Carpet

The first major award ceremony of the award season. The Golden Globes

I for one, was so excited to see the captivating looks that were about to grace the Red Carpet at the Beverly Hills Hotel in California. I wasn't disappointed. I was watching the Red Carpet shows for a few hours, giving my own verdict and opinions to myself and honestly, all of the looks were applaudable from me. I feel that red carpet events are the best in the luxury fashion industry. Whilst some of the stars were inside the venue, sipping on champagne and having a chinwag with Leonardo DiCaprio, as you do, many new and exciting trends had opened this year's Red Carpet Awards. Award Season is where the Couture gowns usually make an appearance, and sometimes the great designers accompany the women they have dressed (and men of course) to the event. I was so glad to see one of my favourites, the ever so talented, Tom Ford with Julianne Moore last night.

Award Season is where the great designers we all know and love, step out in force to show off their incredible and best designs on the most popular celebrities in Hollywood, but it's also the chance for jewellery makers to advertise themselves. On the likes of Jennifer Lopez and Lily James, diamonds truly were a girls best friend - especially on an A List Red Carpet. Nevertheless, for me it was the gowns that were doing the talking. The dresses and looks are always the talking point of an award event, sometimes even overshadowing the awards themselves!

Colour was bold, beautiful and appreciated here at the 2016 Golden Globes. From Jennifer Lopez's Giambattista Valli Mustard gown, to Jennifer Lawrence's Bright Red Dior Couture Number to Jada Pinkett Smith's Atelier Versace creation. However, it seems that white was a huge trend at the gala. Alicia Vikander's Louis Vuitton piece set an innocent, feminine and luxurious look as did Lily James' Marchesa gown. Taraji P. Henson claimed her moment in her white Stella McCartney design teamed with a gold clutch by the ethical designer. Laverne Cox, Maria Menounous and Saoirse Ronan looked the part in their beautiful white numbers.

Some stars were brave enough to don some looks which showed off their toned abs. From Kate Hudson's Michael Kors Collection co-ord, to Jennifer Lawrence's Dior Couture look, to Brie Larson's daring Custom Calvin Klein piece. Being sexy isn't about necissarly showing as much flesh as you can, it's about showing a little bit of flesh, to remain sophisticated and appropriate for these luxurious events. Both Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara, the stars of the new and upcoming film "Carol", took their looks to new levels. Cate's pale pink fringed and laces Givenchy Couture number turned heads, introducing a sexy vibe which we wouldn't have imagined from this style of dress. Rooney opted for an Alexander McQueen nude dress which was draped in fabrics. I can't wait to see the spectacular numbers at the next event ... the bar has been set very high to say the least? Which was your favourite look?
