PFW : Lanvin Spring/Summer 2016

One of my biggest regrets was walking past the Lanvin store on rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré when I visited Paris this past March. From the outside, it looks so appealing and beautiful. I will definitely take a look when I revisit on my next trip. Lanvin is a brand which isn't very common or well known within mainstream fashion, but if you are into fashion like myself, you would have definitely heard of the brand. It was founded in 1889 by Jeanne Lanvin in Paris. The creative director Alber Elbaz, a Moroccan fashion designer, stood as CD from 2001 and has only just recently resigned as of October 2015. This is his last collection with the Fashion House and lets just say - he has gone out with a bang.

I had initially heard of Lanvin when Cheryl Fernandez-Versini, a British Singer, wore a beautiful green number from Lavin on the UK Talent show, The X Factor. It did, for the night, cause a social media frenzy - dividing opinions. I personally adored the dress, and that is when my interest for Lanvin arose. Kim Kardashian is also a fan of Lanvin and regularly attends their shows and is very friendly with Alber Elbaz. I feel like this collection started off as very old-school Yves Saint Laurent, and out of nowhere came the life and boldness of his collection. Which is where the fun really did begin. The collection did become eccentric and somewhat "theatre" like, which reflected the atmosphere of the show with "LANVIN" being exposed through bright lights. Maybe Alber Elbaz really did want to put on a show.

The collection started with day wear in forms of Monochrome looks. Tailored with high waisted black trousers and puffy sleeved shirts. Chiffon materials and leather looks also came after, contrasting the softness and sexiness - giving us a variety of looks for every style. It soon jumped into bolds of colour. Reds, Purples, blues, yellows and greens. It really was a khalidoscope of colour, contrasted against Lanvin's typical dark romantic feel. I really did like this collection.
