Resort 2016 : Chloe


I wasn't very attracted to Chloe as a brand until I took some time to visit their store in Paris when I was there. I spent a good hour in there, and I instantly loved it.

The brand is very soft, delicate and pretty. A luxury brand with an innocent edge. Chloe tends to be very subtle and light - which is a great contrast against the other labels which are very sparkly, bold and big. It's a breath of fresh air. This resort collection, however, did have an edge. Urban vibes and street style was incorporated this time around, to fit with the ongoing trend of expressing personality and diversity. There were also elements of the bohemian vibe, which always comes around every Autumn/Winter. I highly doubt that trend will ever fade.

If you know the brand well, it's usually full of chunky heels, flowy chiffon dresses and a romantic theme, so it was good to see the brand branch out a little bit - out of their comfort zone. It worked, I have to say. When it came to the inspiration of this collection, Waight Keller, looked to glam-rock star Brian Eno - taking the animal print looks and flamboyance to spice things up. Chloe's trademark well-proportion trousers were now at ground's length - creating another new trend for A/W15, however this may not be as comfortable for us ladies with shorter legs. Bags were encouraged to be held by the handful, to be more "rock" and edgy than ever - which I actually really liked the idea of. Even though there was some obvious twists within this collection, Clare Waight Keller had definitely still kept the house's trademark romantic style alive, but incorporated beautiful flow embellished dresses and casual tailoring - which is what we love to see.
