Fall 2015 Couture : Atelier Versace

When it comes to the Haute Couture shows, Atelier Versace is one of my most anticipated. Donatella does something different every year. Whether she has taken inspiration from previous collections or whether she has done something completely new - she nails it every time.

Enchating is probably the perfect word to describe this show. A khalidoscope of colours graced the catwalk being worn by the world's top models such as Lara Stone opening the show, Kendall Jenner, Joan Smalls, Karlie Kloss and Doutzen Kroes. One of my favourite fashion models, Vanessa Moody also made an appearance. The thing I love about Versace shows is not just the clothes, but the atmosphere. Donatella puts on a performance thats for sure. The scenery is always spot on, which adds to the anticipation of the collection.

Donatella said before the show, "There are two sides - I want to show the softer side of Versace" which was a pleasure to see. She nailed this to a T. What woman would not feel like a princess wearing these gowns? It was a completely different feel from her previous collections, especially the Ready-to-Wear Fall 2015 collections which consisted of bold primary colours, glitter and emojis! Yes, emojis - the more social media worthy collection which proved to be a hit. Maybe this time around, Donatella took inspiration from festival-goers, particularly the phenomenon of the Coachella festival .. with a magical, enchanting and luxurious twist.

Donatella kept the asymmetric shapes by twisting it up with fabrics that were frayed in pastel colours, followed by bright oranges and more colours to give the collection a real summer vibe. This collection could have easily passed for a Spring Couture collection no doubt. The beautiful feel of the fabrics could be acknowledged without being touched, giving a "barely there look" by being held together by flowers and loose stitching. Infamously, the flesh was on show, with skin being exposed through the sheer chiffon fabric which gives a classy yet sexy feel. Mini-dresses also graced the catwalk to add contrast against the Red Carpet ready gowns. This collection is yet another excellent creation by Donatella.
