AW15 : Topshop Unique

Topshop Unique is definitely a show that I was looking forward to this LFW. Topshop is a high-street favourite for literally every woman in Britain, so it's so good to see the Unique making a mark in the high branded labels at LFW. It's one of them shows the celebrities attend - Cara Delevingne, Kendall Jenner and Alexa Chung just to name a few. Three of my favourite style icons.

I was exceptionally impressed with the SS15 Collection by Topshop Unique and I was slightly concerned that they wouldn't be able to top it. The sports vibe was such a huge influence in other high street brands and for Topshop's competitors. At the start of the show, I instantly thought back to Michael Kors AW15 just the previous week at NYFW. I knew then that tartan prints and fur are going to be absolutely huge this year. Something I am very excited about! So many looks incorporated PVC which is something quite different from other collections I have seen this month in terms of fabrics. I liked that they did something different to distinguish themselves, and to ensure they are not forced behind the madness of huge brands such as Burberry Prorsum, DVF, Michael Kors etc.

I feel like Topshop Unique is a brand that is high end but still affordable so to speak. They don't cost thousands and they give us women the same runway look as the other designers do. What I also like about this particular collection is that although it is an AW collection - they still have some spring floral prints incorporated, but they're still so acceptable to wear in that season. Not only that, but there was so much colour for an AW collection. Something I didn't necessarily expect. It just all worked. The creative director for Topshop Unique, Kate Phelan nailed it. You can clearly see that the collection was inspired by us British ladies, the typical countryside estate lady vibe. I love that she has kept the british feel of a global popular brand.
