AW15 : Elie Saab

I was so excited for Elie Saab. The mastermind behind the beautiful gowns we see on the red carpet made an even bigger statement with this stand out AW15 collection.

I was certainly pleasantly surprised as the show opened. Karlie Kloss, Queen of the catwalk, took centre stage in a military inspired look, a long buttoned down coat teamed with killer lace up heels. I love! The show was set in a forest (surprising from Elie Saab!) to convey his dark-romantic collection. It was completely different from what I was expecting. Hints of the typical Saab embellishments were visible but I feel like he completely stepped out of his comfort zone, going for a completely different wavelength for this AW. Of course there were beautiful dresses and bright prints - but it was exceptionally toned down with a dark colour palette and more appearances from tailored pieces and jumpsuits.

Known for his gorgeous and pretty dresses, this was a complete turnaround to a somewhat sexy collection. Leather gloves teamed with leather laced up boots was empowering to the collection, and in contrast to his other collections this was a real eye opener, Saab showing he is more than just a one trick pony. Beautiful furs contrasted again blocked belts gave us a strong look, relaxed with skater skirts and pretty jewels. He definitely knew what he was doing - and we can see.  At first, I was undecided about the leafy green colour he chose as one of his main choices. It wasn't an awful colour, but all means different. Maybe because no other has really used the leafy/autumny colours - which over the past month, is a complete breathe of fresh air. However, it grew on me, and the leaf green lace up boots are now at the top of my wishlist!
