AW14 : Balmain

If you follow me on Instagram you will know that I am obsessed with Balmain. They're one of my favourites alongside Burberry - too very different designers I know! There is something about Balmain that I just love. I think its the power and fierceness that the pieces ooze and this AW collection nails just that. Olivier Rousteing himself declared "Welcome to my jungle."

The collection is a combination of 'Safari Chic' and ' Sexy Miltary' in my opinion. It's dominated with khaki colours an rich golds and blacks with the odd feature of bold yellow and bold red. The collection really does continue his brief of less glitz and more power - and it really does embrace different cultures and ethics, I think thats why the "out there" collection really does appeal to us fashion obsessed people. Rihanna herself was one of the faces of this amazing collection and was meant to be Olivier's guest of honour on the FROW but she was unfortunately delayed in the Paris traffic. Even without her though, Olivier's new message and collection was hard to miss and that what he says really does go in the fashion industry.

The metallics from the Ready-to-Wear 2013 are gone, aswell as the bright pinks and vibrant turquoises. They have been replaced with fur jumpers, cargo trousers and jackets, leopard print detailing and gold chains and ropes. Olivier himself said "You can be sexy without exposing 2 metres of legs" and he is 100% right. I believe us girls can look good covered up, it's just about choosing those pieces which portray confidence and sexiness, with a killer outfit. I will definitely be using the Balmain AW14 collection as my guide to some high street alternatives this seasons, but unfortunately for me I just cannot get myself off their website. Big gold hoops and chunky jewellery is also bang on trend according to Balmain, so if you're someone who prefers the simple look, definitely accessories to the max with chunky jewellery (Topshop and Miss Selfridge are my favourite for this) or even invest in some Balmain jewellery! You can access the Balmain website here. I would definitely recommend to take a look on their website and snap up any inspiration you can, and I'll also recommend looking on Topshop, River Island, Linzi Shoes and Crystelle Clothing, which I know stock pieces that will really convey that sexy, safari style.
