Balmain : SS15

Images from the Balmain SS15 show at Paris Fashion Week.

I saw Balmain (@balmainparis) post on Instagram yesterday about their Paris show beginning at 3pm GMT time. I was seriously jealous - I was in the middle of my college class. My dream is to attend a Balmain show in Paris. Why am I so obsessed with them you might be thinking? To be totally honest, it was an instant attraction to Kim's look at the VMAs in California this year. Being a notable wearer of Balmain, Kim has always pulls off their unique looks. I love the structure Olivier Rousteing gives to his pieces. The brief of empowering women and forcing men to fall weak at the knees is my idea of a powerful, killer look. This brief is often used by Olivier because thats what his glamourous and rich clients lust in their wardrobes. Oh and before I start - I would suggest to grab a cuppa tea and some chocolate because this is quite a long post, mostly full of photos from the show!

Balmain always has this repetitive look, which I like. Olivier introduces new designs and textures but always keeps that classic expectation, which I adore. I know they will never disappoint. Caged clothing, black leather lattice work, lean "down to the knee" dresses wowed the industry in Paris yesterday. There was a major look of wide-leg trousers which conveyed the octane sexuality in which Olivier wants his clients to feel when wearing Balmain. Some may say his pieces really reflected a Givenchy design in 1997 of a white tuxedo suit with a cut out twist, he was acknowledging this iconic look and almost making a tribute to the suit. So, yes, Balmain had referenced collections that have been seen on the runway and vintage inspiration from other designers, but on the catwalk in Paris these looks were made entirely modern with the likes of Kendall Jenner, Jourdan Dunn and Rosie H-W walking the show. Paris Fashion Week wouldn't have been as impressive without the anticipated appearance of Balmain. Dazzling yellows, and fire reds were the talk of the show (as well as the star studded FROW containing Kim Kardashian and Kanye West) and it was proven that even though trends come and go, the desire to feel fierce and sexy, will NEVER go out of fashion.
